English Renaissance

The Gallery Singers present a concert of English Renaissance music featuring William Byrd, Thomas Weelkes, Thomas Tomkins, and Thomas Tallis. We will compare and contrast the styles of these famous English composers with contemporary trends in Italy. Our musical journey will take us from the relatively clean forms and harmonies of Thomas Tallis through to the profound expressiveness of Thomas Tomkins’ “When David Heard.” Come and hear Vancouver’s Early Music chamber choir!
